I love these crochet installations by sarah moli newton applebaum. Madeline and I have actually been working on a similar (though not nearly as epic) project for the nook. I will post photos soon.

The Bell Jar Revisited

I generally refuse to accept as legitimate any editions of The Bell Jar besides the Bantham Books version that I read as a teen. (One exception being  the cheesy movie version with the hand, ps. has anyone ever seen that movie? It is impossible to find.) The bastardized contemporary nonpocket-sized versions with "artsy" black and white photos of a girl in a frilly dress or wearing mary janes, just won't do.  

I am though, quite impressed with the images I was able to find of some of the  early editions including the original with the pseudonym Victoria Lucas. I bought a (pocket-sized of course) copy on the street last weekend and I have been rereading it for the first time in ten years or so.

 IT'S SO GOOD!

 I know this is very TweEmo of me, but what can I say Tweemo is in fashion. (Have you even heard of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart).

Sylvia Plath's Copy of The Great Gatsby

I'm aware that it is not uncommon for people of my generation to not have outgrown their high school interests, but oh what I wouldn't do for a time machine to transport me to Leti circa junior year of high school and show her these pages from Sylvia Plath's copy of The Great Gatsby.

via fuck yeah sylvia plathI had this photo on my wall in college. It always reminds me of a boy I had a disastrously self destructive crush on throughout the end of high school and most of college. I remember him scrambling out of my room the morning after one of our few encounters and stopping suddenly to ask me who that photo was of. I replayed that moment again and again dissecting it for 'meaning'. Uggh maybe I haven't changed at all. He also told me he was a virgin. He had the same name as an old folk singer who became very popular among during the last decade among people 'in the know' about these things and is thus ungoogleable.

Where were you in '92?

Daydreaming about Madonna and Vanilla Ice?This shirt from MadeMe Clothing led me to search for these images, some of which I had never seen on account of the fact that Madonna's book Sex cost $50 when it came out and was in a sealed package.Um, Hot. Vanilla Ice took the whole sexy douchebag thing to the new heights.
