I am all about encouraging Malia Obama to be the next photoblogging sensation, and I don't want to be one of those creepy people that freaked out about what the girls were gonna have for lunch on their first day of school, but Sasha Obama is killing it.In this picture she may or may not doing that dance that Tatum O'neil does in front of the mirror in Paper Moon.I'm sorry, I can't lie. I play favorites.
I saw her taking what I think was video during her dad the 44th president of the United States Barack Obama's speech during his inauguration. Is the first daughter already going through her artsy photography phase? Come on Malia, I'll buy you a Pro Account!
The late addition to Live ForeverElizabeth Peyton's show at The New Museum. I DIE. When I was younger I had this J.D. Salinger quote on my wall that I had cut out from somewhere. "Some of my best friends are children. In fact, all of my best friends are children." After I read At Home in the WorldJoyce Maynard's account of her bizarre relationship with Salinger as a young girl I started to feel kinda creepy about it. But lately, with all the posts I have been writing about kids it seems fitting again.
And just cuz.... p.s. I went to see her read on campus at UC Santa Cruz when the book came out and she signed my copy and drew a cute stick figure girl. I wish I could scan it. p.p.s What was up with me going to see weird women authors read in the 90s.
I have always had a soft spot for girls who embody the pure essence of girlhood in a spunky way. ( I've expounded at length on Abigail Breslen.) Malia is adorably serious and dignified at 10 years-old, but seven year-old Sasha kills it with her chutzpah.
Rashida Jones is another major girl crush of mine. (The ladiez of The Office are the best what can I say.) Lets just quickly recap her awesomeness. In no particular order: Harvard Grad, Freaks and Geeks, friends with Tupac, oh yeah Thriller, Off the Wall, Bad her dad had a bit to do with that, has made out with Jim from The Office, was engaged to Mark Ronson, does a little writing for the Teen Vogue and also insanely gorg. (Natalie Portman always sorta bugged but I dunno she may have redeemed.) Um yeah and here she is with her mom.
I wish I could vote today. Being disenfranchised has never hit so hard. I hereby promise on this blog to become a U.S. Citizen by the time it is time for the next election in 2012, proms guys I swear.
Call me crazy but these outfits reminded me of this Alberta Ferretti ad. This is what happens when the Democratic Convention and Fashion Week are rubbing elbows in my mind.
I'm sorry but this is cute... All politics aside you have to admit, these two are fucking cool. Love the fuschia Michelle. Maybe the future is now. Maybe we can live in a Sorkin utopia. It's feeling all the time, more and more like:
